Claude for PowerPoint is an official add-in that builds and edits slides from inside PowerPoint itself. Not a separate app you paste content out of. You describe what you need, and it builds the actual slides, in your actual template, while you watch.
That last bit is the part worth pausing on.
Most AI tools help with the words. They’ll write you a summary, suggest some bullet points, maybe draft a script. Then you still have to do the actual slide-building yourself, pasting content in, fixing the layout, matching your fonts and colours by hand.

This isn’t a set-and-forget tool. Anthropic is upfront that it isn’t recommended for final client deliverables without human review, or for presentations containing highly sensitive or regulated data without the right controls in place. Treat it as a fast first draft, not a finished, unchecked product.
There’s also a genuine security point worth knowing: only use it with trusted files. A file from an external source, a downloaded template, a vendor’s deck, could contain hidden instructions designed to manipulate the add-in. Claude will ask you to confirm before it runs anything risky, so it’s worth actually reading those confirmations rather than clicking through them.
