How many New Year resolutions have to stuck with?
Most people want to lose weight, earn more money, meet the guy or girl of their dreams, the list goes on and on.
I’d like to offer some advice on how you can have a really successful year in work and life generally. It’s all done by something that I’m a big fan of……….GREAT COMMUNICATION.
Not just good, but great communication can help you in so many ways. It can help you share your ideas much better in business, it can improve your presentations which can lead to winning new business, and yes it could even get you a date with that dream guy or girl. Here are a few things to bear in mind this year with all of your communication:

AUDIENCE FIRST – ALWAYS!

Make sure priority is always given to your audience. Ask yourself a few simple questions before you attempt to communicate with them:

  • What age group are they?
  • How do they like to be presented with information?
  • How much time will they have?
  • Do they want to see lots of data or just an overview?
  • What research can I do about them before we speak?

CONSIDER FORMAT

If you are delivering a presentation, don’t just open your laptop and double click on PowerPoint. There are alternatives to traditional slides:

BRUSH UP

It’s always good to brush up on those soft skills. You can go on refresher courses for all kinds of communication skills:

  • Tone of voice
  • Body Language
  • Presenting
  • Creative copywriting
  • The list goes on

PRACTICE

The best way to get your audiences buy in is to show them you are grateful for their time. There’s no better way of doing that than by delivering a perfect speech, presentation, or marriage proposal! Practice your piece of communication at least 4 times, and I’d suggest recording yourself and watching it back to remove any bad habits.
Communication runs through everything we do. If you want an amazing 2017 then focus on improving your communication skills and you’ll be amazed at the results in work and your personal life.
Have a great year.
